The Pilot in Command (PIC) oversees and is directly responsible for the safe and efficient transport of all crew members, patients, and other riders by Pilatus PC-12 fixed-wing aircraft during air ambulance operations. The PIC will ensure compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and General Operations Manual (GOM) regulations and guidelines before, during, and after all phases of transport. The PIC will ensure that all organizational policies and procedures are followed. The PIC maintains the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for the safe fixed-wing transport of patients and assists in the coordination of their logistical movements.
License, Certification & Registration: Commercial Single Engine Land Certification Instrument Rating Second Class Medical Certificate Driver’s License with Acceptable Driving Record
Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) Minimum Standards (Preferred) -2500 hours Total Time (2000 hours in category)
1000 hours PIC (preferred)
50 hours in Pilatus PC12 (preferred)
500+ hours of cross country time (preferred)
100+ hours in Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) conditions (preferred)
100+ hours of night time (preferred)
Previous air medical transport experience (preferred)
A minimum of 3 years of related experience (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills:
Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written format. Required.
Demonstrates the ability to think and act critically while adapting to changing conditions. Required.
